Our Tournament Team competes around Missouri and the mid-west in empty-hand kata, weapons kata, and sparring. We conduct try-outs for our team at the beginning of each year. We accept approximately ten members to our team each year to ensure individual and quality teaching. Team members receive additional training weekly to work on tournament kata and sparring. Ideal students for the team should be self-motivated and have a desire to compete and learn, however, no prior tournament knowledge is necessary. Students interested in trying out for the team should notify an instructor and train at a higher level to increase their chances of being picked, and to prepare for the more intense training schedule team members follow. Team members will benefit by gaining a competitive edge, personally focused training, and exposure to a variety of other types of martial arts.
